Chania city clock
Inside the Municipal Garden of Chania, in its northeast corner, dominates the Garden Clock, one of the most characteristic monuments of Chania.
The Garden Clock began to be built in 1924 and was finished in 1927. It consists of three parts: the base, the body (whose sides converge upwards) and the roof, which is shaped into a circular pavilion.
For the construction of the Garden Clock, cantounades (large stones) from the then quarries of Lentarians and Halepas and river sand were used. The designs of the watch were made by the engineer D. Kollaros.
Even today, almost a hundred years after its construction, the Garden Clock is a point of reference for the people of Chania.
